Mystery and Mind of Mystery Rumors

Wow. My last post about Mystery selling substandard products resulted in a swarm of emails - as well as comments confirming the rumors. But the emails suggested that what's really going on is far more interesting than just the "all sales final" scandal. Some of this is going in the new book and I don't want to get my facts wrong. So if anyone has confirmation (or is able to rebut) the below, I'd be grateful:

1. Does anyone know whether many affiliates for the "Magnum Opus" product launch flop were not paid or not paid fully? I heard from one affiliate that most of their sales (75% in that case) would not be paid because of "refunds" but that these supposed refunds were not documented anywhere and would not be documented.

Were 75% of product sales really refunded (wow) or was this another scam?

2. Does anyone know who actually owns Mind of Mystery? Is it in fact 100% owned by Mike Long with no share at all for Mystery?

3. Does Mystery owe over $100,000 to Mike Long for marketing expenses? What on earth kind of marketing (presumably a campaign that made people freak out) would qualify for a >$100,000 payout? [I find this one hard to believe, but I've found a lot of things hard to believe that have turned out to be true].

I'm owed over 50% of my commissions for Mind of Mystery. I had NO REFUNDS according to Mike Long, and various emails to him (who answered an IM) and one of your former instructors, Lovedrop went unanswered.

They play the disassociated game. That it's the others fault, eg. Mike blames Lovedrop. Lovedrop doesn't answer emails.

I haven't heard any bad reports from guys about the product itself, so I can't comment on that.

Class action anyone? It's ridiculous.

Dude, with all due respect, please get back to talking about pick ups... of girls... instead of more guy drama.

i dont know about marketing, but on that products you wont hear nothing NEW. its like that first seminar where style was "born".

i think mystery is the only one in community that didnt bring something new to the table. or at least move on.

not that this is something bad, but i think people give mystery too much credit.

Yeah, I got the shaft on this too. Had to chase people for payment - first Mike Long (who surprised me when he said he wasn't handling that part, but seemed to be on my side), he put me in touch with Lovedrop.

Lovedrop assures me money is on the way and I get an email telling me Paypal has money for me from Venusian Arts. I go check and it's 4 grand light. So I email Lovedrop again.

I hear back from some other guy saying all my other sales refunded. I've never heard of a return rate that high in my life - so I smelled a rat or, at the least, total incompetence.

Quite a track record these guys are building for themselves. Is their motto - Take the money, burn all the bridges and run?!

Lovedrop got in touch with me and is paying the remaining funds. Although, this isn't as much as I had anticipated due to returns. About a 30% rate which isn't as high as other affiliates I know. =(

@Anonymous 1: Who cares, just don't read it. It's not like you HAVE to read something. Get RSS and read what you want. The majority of guys like it in combination with advice.

30% refund? 75% refund? How fucking bad does a product have to be for that kind of refund rate?

I wonder if VA will come clean to affiliates what the REAL refund rate was.

They probably won't because either they are lying and stealing to keep the money or they would have to admit that their products suck. Either way, I won't be their affiliate next time around.

Sorry, correction to my last comment:

I only had the last two payments not come in, no returns. Venusian Arts have apparently sent payment, so credit were credit is due. Even if after... how long?!

Hmm.. I was inquiring about affiliation to Mind of Mystery back at the time and eventually chose not to affiliate with that specific product.

For moral reasons.

Shame on you all for not deciding the same! ;)

Anyway it would be nice for everyone concerned to have Mike Long go pick on another niche and let us all be.

Gotta run.. people are ***freaking out*** here

:))

Cheers

What moral reason should I have been previously aware of?

I find it really hard to believe that Mike Long is at fault here.

(Other than perhaps for not doing his due diligence on what kind of people he was getting involved with - but I got suckered in by the same guys too so it's hard to blame Mike Long for that).

Seduction Chronicles you shouldn't have been working with the con man Mystery. Is there not any other product you could promote?

@Postiron:

Mystery has never done me wrong. I have nothing against him. Why should I not give my readers a heads up when he releases a product? Like him or hate him, Mystery commands much presence within the community and my readers respond to him like (apparently) he does to coke.

If you would remember... I did post a scathing post about Mystery a few months after Mind of Mystery and was SLAMMED by my readers:

Read it and comment...

Positron,

He was just presenting what's out there and letting you decide, that's a valid way to do things.

One could argue that deciding for your visitors what's good or bad (I guess this is what I did) is unprofessional.

I just followed my heart though :)
